Herd protection in pasture animal husbandry
Grazing is a particularly environmentally friendly form of land use. It is irreplaceable for keeping the landscape open and preserving biodiversity. However, the return of the wolf poses a new challenge for graziers. The DVL supported livestock farmers and livestock protection advisors by providing information and exchange opportunities as well as knowledge transfer. The project offered numerous events as well as practical instructions and short films to provide information on livestock protection measures between 2020 and 2024. Video recordings and downloads are still available on the project website www.herdenschutz.dvl.org "
The project is part of the Model and Demonstration Projects (MuD) Animal Welfare in the Knowledge - Dialogue - Practice project phase. Funding is provided by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) on the basis of a decision by the German Bundestag. The project is organised by the Federal Office for Agriculture and Food (BLE).
