The animals are calm, alert and respond to the presence of the carer. When entering the barn, no cries of distress can be heard; the animals do not peck at one another in any noticeable way and do not form clusters.

Checking the ventilation and heating systems
Checking lighting conditions. As turkeys are extremely sensitive to changes in lighting conditions, it is also advisable to check the lighting and remove any areas where sunlight might shine through.
