In times of avian influenza (AI) and Newcastle disease (ND), protecting livestock farms from the introduction of pathogens is more important than ever. A key biosecurity measure is a well-functioning hygiene sluice, which helps to protect poultry flocks from biological hazards. However, simply installing a hygiene sluice is not enough to effectively prevent the introduction of animal diseases. Only when all staff members use the hygiene sluice consistently and correctly, and the prescribed hygiene measures are firmly embedded in their daily work routines, can it fully fulfil its protective function. To support, explain and remind staff of the daily implementation of these measures, the Fokus Tierwohl network has produced a barn poster for the poultry sector.
